Textile Recycling

Did you know you have lots of options to recycle your clothing, bags, towels and more rather than the garbage or some garbage bag on the curb that no one really wants to dig through? FYI, 5.7% of our waste stream is textiles and New Yorkers throw away close to 200,000 pounds of textiles every year. Yikes.

Council on the Environment of NYC has 8 textile recycling drop-off sites in NYC.

Here they are:

FRIDAYS
97th Street Greenmarket, 8am-2pm
W 97th & Columbus


SATURDAYS
Union Square Greenmarket, 8am-6pm
(Due to construction, the site may move around the park. Ask at the Market Manager's tent if you have trouble finding it!)

Inwood Greenmarket, 8am-3pm
Isham St b/t Seaman & Cooper


Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket, Brooklyn, 8am-4pm
(NW Entrance to Prospect Park)


Fort Greene Greenmarket, 8am-3pm
Washington Park at DeKalb


McCarren Park Greenmarket, 8am-2pm
Bedford & Lorimer, Greenpoint

SUNDAYS
Tompkins Square Greenmarket
, 8am-4pm

Jackson Heights Greenmarket, 8am-3pm
